Raw Wine (a roving natural wine fair) is coming to town and bringing some of the world’s most marvelous winemakers with it. So, naturally, we thought we should celebrate with them. First up: on Saturday, November 11, from 6 – 8 pm, the makers behind Northern California’s much-obsessed-over (and rightfully so) La Clarine Farm are coming! They make wine as naturally as possible, from their chemical- and fertilizer-free vineyards to their additive-free cellar. Read more on their site and we promise you’ll want to hug them / drink all their wine, always and forever.
But wait, there’s more! Domaine Ligas is coming, too! This family-run vineyard in Northern Greece is producing some of the most special wines in the country, using beyond-organic agriculture, hand-harvesting, natural yeasts to create beautiful expressions of their terroir.
Saturday is going to be a WINE WINE PARTY PARTY, and we hope you’ll be there! Join us in the market from 6 – 8 pm; $20 gets you a taste of five wines (three from La Clarine, two from Domaine Ligas) and a glass of whichever you fancy. Plus we’ll be selling their bottles for 10% retail. CHEERS!
Sunday, November 12, from 5:30 – 7:30 pm, winemaker Diego Roig from Les Lunes & Populis will join us in the market for a tasting of his wines – which are some of the most compelling coming out of Northern California right now.
We like to say that the Les Lunes/Populis makers are California natural wine young guns with old-world souls. They do everything themselves (they even built their own cellar); the resulting wines are lively and elegant, fresh and alluring. They’re blazing a trail into the future of California winemaking while honoring the past…and the results are delicious!
Come taste five of them on Sunday evening; $20 gets you sips of each and glass of your favorite (and we’ll be selling the bottles for 10% off retail, too!). Or come in for dinner after 7:30 and let Diego be your sommelier!
Join us on Monday, November 13, for an incredibly special evening with The Freya Project, an all-woman reading series. Tickets are $30, and proceeds go to small non-profit organizations doing massively important work. This is our second time playing host to this gathering, and we can guarantee it will be a community-building, faith-in-humanity bolstering, laugh-and-cry-and-make-new-friends evening. Join us! Snag your spot at FreyaProject.com/LA
Join us for a very special dinner on Wednesday, November 1 in honor of one of our cookbook (and general food) heroes: DAVID TANIS!
We’ll be celebrating his gorgeous/inspiring new book, Market Cooking, with a multi-course feast featuring dishes from the cookbook and our Botanica repertoire ($50). David will be the guest of honor; he’ll be joining us to mingle, clink glasses and sign cookbooks (we’ll have them on hand to purchase). Snag a spot via OpenTable or call the restaurant to reserve (323-522-6106)!
We’re head-over-heels in love with Alison Roman’s new cookbook, Dining In. So we invited her to come talk about it! Join her and food writer Gillian Ferguson for cocktails and conversation on the patio on Sunday, October 29, 5-6:30pm. The event is free, but please rsvp to email@example.com!
